A Crow Left of the Murder
Tabbed by Kage
Hey guys, this song kicks ass. Now there are alot of weird guitar parts that I will try to explain. I know that the verses are 100% correct, so is the chorus. The interlude gets a little tough, but I will explain how I play it. It is a little different, and much easier than how Mr. Einziger plays it. Man, he's fucking amazing.
Verses
E------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G---------------13-------13----------------13--------------13------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A--0h11---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E-----------12----------12-----------10-10---------0-11-11-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
alright, this is riff one. Mike plays this in the first part of the verse. when the guitar kicks in at the beginning of the song, play this riff 8 times. Also, make sure your guitar is set at the bluesiest setting that it has. That is how you get the twangy sound that is on the record.

E---------9--------9------9----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B-----------------------------------------14--------14------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A-7h9-------9-------7--------7/12-------0-11-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is riff two. Play it after riff one twice during each verse. Be careful after the interlude though. He only plays riff one then.
Chorus
This part is really easy, you guys will get it right away.
Chords- C chord barred (810109XX)
A chord barred (5776XX)
E chord (022100)
The rhythm that Mike uses here is a little bit quirky. Try to strum really quickly, and almost syncopated.
Interlude
Ok guys, now for the fun part. I hope this works for all of you.
E-x
B-x
G-3 This is the jazz type chord at the beginning of the interlude, he plays it for 16 measures I think.
D-2
A-x
E-x
then go to this part (riff A).
E- These are the exact notes. Play this exact tablature twice.
B-
G-
D--------------------------------4-------------------------------------------4---------
A-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E-5h7-7-5-454-7-7---5h7-7-5-454----2-2-2-2/5-5h7-7-5-454-7-7---5h7-7-5-454----2-2-2
Here is the weird soloing part. I play it with a hard distortion, a fast echo, and a loud Wah pedal
E-2/14-----11-----9-----7----5/7-7-----4-5-4--222222---------------------14h17p14----------------11-13-14-11-13-14-11-13-14-11-13-14-13-11-14/
B------------------------------------------------------------------------17b19----------------------------------------------------------------
G- This first part needs to be played with a really fast strumming motion. Listen to the track while you learn it.
D- The second part is not the real way it is played, but it is an octave higher. Same notes, just higher on the scale.
A- Keep bending the B string at the indicated frets, and keep doing the hammer ons and pull offs as noted.
E- This part is where you need the echo pedal.
Those are all of the parts. I will map out the song structure for you.
Verse 1-riff 1, 8 times, riff 2 twice, riff 1 twice
Chorus
Verse 2- riff 1, 4 times, riff 2 twice, riff 1 twice
Chorus
Interlude- jazz chord, Riff A, Solo, back to jazz chord
Verse 3- riff 1, 8 times
Chorus
Well, there it is, one of the coolest songs on the new album. Mike is just friggin' awesome on this record, perhaps his best work yet. If anyone has questions, comments, insults, or otherwise, don't be afraid to email me at [email protected]. Thanks alot guys.
