The Beatles
Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney; released on "Revolver" album.
This song was written by John when actor Peter Fonda told him that he knew
what it was like to be dead. Originally the title was "He Said He Said", but
then John changed "he" to "she". The most interesting things in the song are
the change of meter from 4/4 to 3/4 (and 6/4) in the bridges, the doubling
of the tempo in the outro (they also used this trick in "Ticket To Ride").
Paul had an argument with the others just before the recording and he walked
out of the studio, so the bassline was played by George (who also sang the
harmony vocals) instead. He plays an excellent bassline, including sixteenth
notes, long slides, etc. Anyway, it's a great one, and one of my
favourites :-)
